Serve clients as an independent website consultant, designer, and developer. Responsibilities include:

  • recommending and tailoring software solutions based on client requests and needs
  • coordinating development among teams members via collaboration software such as Backpack and Trac
  • upgrading and updating software that powers existing sites
  • building new sites based on content management systems such as WordPress or Drupal
  • customizing and/or heavily modifying existing Wordpress plugins and Drupal modules to meet client requirements
  • creating new visual layouts for websites in XHTML and CSS
  • converting design concepts from graphic documents to XHTML and CSS

Assistant Director

Along with Director, was responsible for the day-to-day operations of camp, including scheduling, purchasing, logistics, and handling parent, student, and staff concerns. Was also responsible for supervising staff and reporting to Regional Manager on a regular basis. Other responsibilities included handling technical support responsibilities, deploying weekly project backups, planning and coordinating afternoon and evening activities as part of a team, taking inventory of software and robotics parts, and overnight supervision of students.

Web Developer and Systems Administrator

As web developer, was primarily responsible for developing new customer websites primarily based on the WordPress CMS/Blogging and Drupal CMS platforms. Developed custom themes for WordPress and Drupal making heavy use of PHP, XHTML, and CSS. Worked to verify cross-platform functionality and accessibility in addition to meeting design specifications. Deployed multiple websites built on Wordpress, Drupal, and MediaWiki. As well as sites designed for e-commerce using WordPress.

As systems administrator, was responsible for deployment and administration of servers, web and email hosting platforms, and internal web technology for day-to-day business operations. Was part of a two-person administration team that deployed a Windows 2003 Server running Exchange 2003 and Sharepoint Services for internal business use. Was also responsible for deploying web and network monitoring servers in-house and one streaming audio server running Linux as part of a service project for a local college radio station. Tested and deployed an in-house issue-tracking system based on Sharepoint used to improve productivity and reduce turnaround time. Also handled tech support calls related to email and web hosting issues.

Taught the Programming & Robotics and Programming v2.0 courses to 11-17 year old children utilizing the C++ programming language and Microsoft Visual Studio.NET 2005. Also acted as part of management staff team to facilitate camp logistics, such as meal planning and scheduling. Responsibilities included attending weekly staff meetings, being on-call in the building from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. 3 to 4 times per month, helping to perform break inspections as part of a team, coordinating hall closing and opening during breaks as part of a team, and coordinating 2 all-hall educational or social programs per semester.

Responsibilities included hardware and software troubleshooting, telephone and in-person support of faculty and staff computing systems, and initial setup of Windows and Macintosh systems for faculty, staff, and student use. Also performed data migration and recovery for Windows and Macintosh systems, hardware repair, hardware and software upgrades, and maintenance of PC and Apple Macintosh systems. When required, assisted in training new student workers, organized shop inventory, and worked as part of a team to perform setup and installation of public computing laboratories, classrooms, and lecture halls.

In my free time, I like to tinker with Linux, cook, perform music, watch movies, collect rubber ducks, and read whatever I can get my hands on. I am also an avid runner, and enjoy working out whenever I can.
